Assessment first
Find the real problem before anyone builds or buys anything.
We look at how the work actually moves, then tell you what to fix first and what to leave alone. It starts with an assessment, quoted before it begins, and it’s fine to stop there.
Who this is for
You know something is costing you time or money, and you’ve probably already been told what to buy for it. What usually hasn’t happened is anyone sitting down with the people doing the work and tracing where it actually goes wrong.
A website is one tool. So is a form that routes itself, or a step you stop doing. The job is knowing which one you need.
What you get
Who touches what, where it waits, and the parts that only hold together because the same person has always done them.
In order, with the reasoning, including the things we’d tell you to leave exactly as they are.
Sometimes it’s the website. Sometimes it’s something smaller behind it, and sometimes the fix is a step you stop doing.
What nobody has decided yet, which of it changes what gets built, and what can safely wait.
Where it helps in the work they already do, what may go into it, and who checks what comes back.
Your policies, decisions and history, kept somewhere your people and your tools can both read.
How it works
We start with the people doing the work, not the people who approve the software. You walk us through how things really happen, especially the parts that only work because someone has been doing them forever.
Then we write down what we found and what follows from it, before there’s a price on anything. If we’ve read your organization wrong, you’ll see it on the page and can say so.
After that it’s your call. Do it yourselves, hand the plan to someone else, or have us build the pieces. The assessment is worth having either way.
If the honest answer is that nothing needs building, that’s what you’ll hear, and you’ll have it in writing.
When this doesn’t work
This needs two things we can’t supply. Somebody senior who will genuinely let the work change, and an hour a week from the people actually doing it.
Without the first, you get a document. Without the second, you get a plan built on guesses, because nobody who does the work was in the room.
If neither is available this quarter, wait. We’ll say so rather than sell you an assessment you’ll file and never open.
How it’s priced
The assessment is quoted as a fixed scope before it starts, so the first thing you buy has an end. Its size depends on how many people and how much of the work it touches.
If you want us alongside after that, it’s quoted for a year and billed monthly, with no setup fee, and only if there’s something worth doing. Anything we build is priced on its own, as a project or as Digital Operations.
We don’t publish rate cards. One call is usually enough for us to tell you the size.
The part everyone skips
Most of what makes your organization work isn’t written down anywhere. Why you stopped doing it the other way. What the board said last spring.
Your team carries that, and every new hire, vendor and tool starts without it. It’s why a new system gets set up slightly wrong, and why AI hands your staff confident answers that miss the point.
We write it down and keep it somewhere a person can check it and your tools can read it.
The tools are the easy part, and everybody has the same ones. What’s yours is what your people know.
It takes longer than switching something on. It’s also the part still worth having a year from now.
For public entities
Write the reasoning down before you need it
What changes and why. Who signs off before anything reaches a resident. What gets recorded, so that a year from now a board, an auditor or a member of the public can follow how a decision was actually made.
That includes AI. Your staff are almost certainly using these tools already, and writing the rules afterward, with a complaint on the table, is a much harder afternoon than writing them now.
Questions
Do we have to hire you to build what you recommend?
No. The plan is yours, and it’s written so someone else could pick it up. Plenty of clients do part of it themselves and bring us the piece they can’t.
Do we have to buy anything?
Not through us. We don’t resell anything and we don’t take a cut of what you spend. Plenty of teams get a long way on what they already pay for, and part of the assessment is telling you whether you need anything else at all.
Half our staff already use AI on their own.
That’s the normal starting point, and it’s better information than any survey would give you. We find out what’s actually happening without anybody getting in trouble for answering honestly, then write the rules around the work people are really doing.
Isn’t this the same as Digital Operations?
No. Digital Operations ends with something built that does the job. Consulting ends with knowing what the job actually is, and your team able to do more of it themselves. Plenty of organizations want some of both, and we’ll tell you which one your problem is before you pay for either.
Not sure what the problem is?
That’s the right time to call. Tell us how the week goes and we’ll tell you where to start.
